Toasty

At the center of Burning Toast Man is a large effigy of a stick figure made of bread. For reasons known only to a few people, "Toasty" has always been festooned with fire effects made from blackpowder wrapped by slices of bread. When Toasty gets burned on the last night of the event, many loaves-worth of bread containing blackpowder go off in spectacular fashion as crazed participants chant, "Toast! Toast! Toast! Toast!"

The reasons behind the iconography of Toasty are unclear. Burning Toast Man is intended to be based on no other pagan ceremony, movie, or historic personage. Toasty has been an annual event long before Laura's family money ever assisted BtM. There's only one thing BtM certainly represents:
It's art.
It's bad art.
It's bad art on fire.
